The Vocation of the Laity - Raising Missionary Disciples
“We need lay people who take risks, who get their hands dirty, who are not afraid of making mistakes, who go forward. We need lay people with a vision of the future, not confined to the little things of life. ”- Pope Francis
Every Catholic has a call or vocation. Some are called to Priesthood. Some to Religious Life. But for the vast majority, we are called to the Vocation of the Laity. This is a significant call, not a second class vocation.
“The (Vatican) Council, therefore, does not look at laypeople as if they were ‘second class’ members, at the service of the hierarchy and only executors of orders from on high.... But as disciples of Christ who, by force of their baptism and their nature inserted ‘in the world, ’ are
called to animate every space, every activity, every human relation according to the spirit of the Gospel.” - Pope Francis (2015)
This website is dedicated to promoting the vocation of every layperson that the Church might be enriched.
We have produced an information leaflet called "Hey Lay Person, you too have a vocation". You can download it by clicking on the image on the right. Printed copies of the leaflet are available using the contact form on the right
